Counselors Corner

Ms. Rossana Huerta

Dear Sierra Lakes Families,

My name is Rossana Huerta and I am your School Counselor. I am very excited to be a part of Sierra Lakes Elementary School! I have a passion for supporting students in my community to achieve their personal and academic goals. Regardless of where students are academically, socially, and emotionally, each student is capable of reaching success.

I have a strong belief that mental health and a positive mindset are essential to students' wellbeing and success. Students with a healthy mentality: learn better, perform better, are more creative, build healthier relationships, and better cope with difficult times. Through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling, I will provide students with the tools and skills needed to thrive.

I also believe that developing strong relationships with students, parents, and the community is crucial. To make a positive impact on students' lives, it requires the work of more than one person!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with all of you!

Sierra Lakes Families,

It’s about helping every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

I believe every child deserves a safe and caring space to be heard, to learn from their experiences, and to build confidence in who they are becoming. In my work, I help students learn how to regulate their emotions, make responsible and caring choices, and reflect on the kind of person they want to be—both in and outside the classroom.

Through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling, I aim to help students develop important life skills such as empathy, problem-solving, self-management, and resilience. I also love collaborating with teachers and families to make sure each student feels supported and has the tools they need to thrive.

I feel so lucky to walk alongside our students as they learn, grow, and discover all the wonderful things that make them who they are. It’s such a joy to cheer them on every step of the way and to see them grow more confident, cared for, and proud of who they’re becoming.

Kind regards,

Nanedi Lanon
